Jira for managing job applications

Has anyone used Jira for processing job applicants? 

I'd like to have an Applicant Portal, where they can upload/download files, complete tasks in a task list and send/receive messages. 

On the internal side, I'd like to be able to have a Hiring manager track all of their current applications, their status, communications ect. 

I saw some plugins/workflows for this kind of functionality and I was curious if anyone has used Jira in this way.

Hello Mack

have you considered using a public facing Jira service desk?

the request form can include the fields with the questions, and allow for attachments. 

Internally it it is a Jira issue that cN be used to communicate with the applicant.
