Jira eats out memory

Fygo Cui June 27, 2012

Jira eats out memory since it is started. So that the server stops responding. We have to reboot the host and suffer the downtime.

It seems the memory issue is related with the ticket/comment creation from email.

Yesterday I disabled the services for a couple of hours and the memory usage was steady. Before I did the clean up on the inboxes, memory usage grew exponentially and after the clean up it grows slowly.

Does anyone have the same issue and give me some advices?

Hi, we've experienced this before. Definitely check the incoming and outgoing email logs. It's possibly that you've got an email handler that keeps looping due to invalid addresses etc. As it keeps looping and commenting and commenting, it will eat up all the memory.
