Jira creating tasks from email (from no jira users)

andrew wisener October 24, 2013

We are moving to Jira from a custom built app.

We are an web agency that handles requests coming in from many companies. The way our current system works is the customer emails the tasking system and get a response back confirming the request has been received. The customer can then reply to that email to add further comments to the task, we can send an email to the customer from the task and they can also respond to that. Jira seems to work a similar way for registered users, but could it be setup to behave this way for external users?

Hi Andrew,

Take a look at https://thepluginpeople.atlassian.net/wiki/display/JEMH/Enable+non+JIRA+Account+holders+to+receive+issue+updates

I think it has exactly what you are looking for.

Hi Bushan,

That looks like exactly what I need. Is it available on Jira on Demand?

Hey Andrew,

No it is not available for OnDemand. You can find the docs here https://thepluginpeople.atlassian.net/wiki/display/JEMH/JEMH+Home

Please note, if you are looking for such customizations and more, plugin options and customization for OnDemand is limited compared to a Standalone instance. Take a look at restrictions here
