Hi Team,
I heard that On-Premise Jira is migrating to Jira Cloud. If this is true, how long will it take to complete the migration? Are there any precautionary steps we need to take from our side?
We want to integrate Zendesk with Jira. Which Jira platform should we integrate with, Jira On-Premise, or Jira Cloud? If possible can you please share the documentation?
Thanks and Regards,
Rajesh S

The duration of the migration really depends on several factors:
From my experience, the shortest migration of three projects took about 2 hours with no additional modifications.
Here is the marketplace link for Zendesk: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211941/zendesk-support-for-jira?tab=overview&hosting=cloud

@Rajesh Sailada hi. I see a lot of propositions that can help resolve your case, so i'll just add another solution to the list: ZigiOps from the Atlassian marketplace. It's easy to scale and customize as per your needs. It works fast and safe (no data storage) , and it's perfect for migrations too. It will help you connect/integrate Jira &Zendesk and transfer the data you want. Check it out and even give it a try via the Free Trial.

As mentioned by others, Atlassian has ended support for Jira Server in the mid of February 2024. We assume by On-premise Jira, you mean Jira Data Center. You may refer to an article on Atlassian community that walks through the key considerations before migrating to Jira Data Jira Cloud, benefits of migration, getting started and choosing the right migration approach for successful migration in detail:
For Zendesk- Jira integration, you can sync Zendesk either with Jira Datacenter or Jira Cloud depending on your plan of migration. Broadly, there are two approaches:
OpsHub, the Atlassian and Zendesk partner, offers an integration platform that can help ease your migration and integration journey with a user friendly, no script configuration, no plugins, rich data sync including rich text format retention and automatic conflict resolution.
Feel free to reach out to our solutions architects for an initial free consultation on your migration and integration planning.
Thanks,

Atlassian's Server products are EOL - but you can either...
You can compare the two on this page: https://www.atlassian.com/migration/assess/compare-cloud-data-center

It's hard to say how long a migration would take - it depends on multiple factors such as the size of your instance, the number of users, and the apps you have installed.
But to get started, I'd check out the migration paths and information pages available through here: https://www.atlassian.com/migration
---
For Jira <> Zendesk, there's solutions for both Cloud and Data Center, so I wouldn't make this a deciding factor unless there's a specific app or middleware you must use for this.
You can check out some options for this integration on the Marketplace, check this search list: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/search?query=zendesk

Hope this helps!

Thanks @Ste Wright
Do we have an ETA for the end-of-life of Atlassian's Jira On-premises?

The Server product suite is end-of-life - that happened in mid-February 2024.
There are no known plans to retire Data Center - it is one of the core products Atlassian offers, alongside Cloud (SaaS).
