Jira Upgrade

Hi,

I need to upgrade JIRA version 6.2.7 to 6.4(Latest version).

I did look at the documentation, appears to be several methods to do it

My question is , is it possible to just import the backup XML File into JIRA 6.4 to restore the database.

Any suggestions, Appreciated.

Hi Tummala,

     Yes, you can do that, but you will miss some configuration files and attachments. In fact what you want to do is similar to the process described in this document: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Migrating+JIRA+to+Another+Server.

     JIRA should detect the database is old and automatically update it.
