We are trying to use Jira (no ServiceDesk) as ITSM.
We need to ensure that in the event that someone passes a ticket to our Software Project or creates a new one there, the team receives an email notification so we can assign this further.
Can you advise about best practices to achieve this?
Issue creation creates a notification. What do you mean by 'passes a ticket'? If you mean moved from on project to another, the move issue in the notification scheme will do that. You just need to update the notification scheme. For information about notification schemes copy/paste this link
