That depends if you want external devices to connect to the instance, or if you're only using internal devices. Two scenarios (in both, your JIRA is behind a corporate firewall with no access to the internet):
a) You want external customers to send you data. JMC doesn't handle this as it needs to access your JIRA instance over the internet. One workaround to this is to have an OnDemand instance that is public to the internet for all JMC feedback and to copy any issues you need into your internal instance.
b) You are using JMC for testing a mobile app internally on your corporate network. JMC is perfect for this - just configure it and as long as the devices are able to access the JIRA URL (eg. they're on the same network), JMC will work well.
