Jira Migration: OnDemand to hosted instance to OnDemand

Gavin Tung September 17, 2013

I'm trying to consolidate projects from a few older repositories to our OnDemand instance, and tried using an interim OnDemand instance.

Now I need to import data exported from OnDemand to a hosted instance (so I can import individual projects) and am getting an error:

This data appears to be from an older version of JIRA. Please upgrade the data and try again. The current version of JIRA is at build number '6109', but the supplied backup file was for build number '6139'.

Is there a way to downgrade the export version? Is there an upgraded version of the hosted package I can install to match?

Regards,

Gavin

I'm giving up attempting to do bulk migration. I'll just re-create it by hand, accepting the loss of activity tracking data.

1/10 Unsatisfactory resolution, would not recommend

as per the error message, the istalled version should be the same version of ondemand jira version.

always ondemand version will be the latest release so you should install latest jira.

check this doc for more information

I downloaded the version available at https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/download on Friday. Is there somewhere else I can get the latest version?

I just downloaded the installer again and ran the update, and it's still 6109. Is an updated installer for build 6139 available?

The error I got using the backup I made from my OnDemand instance earlier today suggests build 6139. Where can I get a specific build?

As per following document the latest version of jira on ondemand is JIRA 6.1-OD-8

check this,

https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AOD/Atlassian+OnDemand+Application+Versions

here you can find latest jira versions

https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/download-archives

The footer for my hosted Jira says: "Atlassian JIRA (v6.0.8#6109-sha1:57cf099)"

My OnDemand version says : "

Version 6.1-OD-06-1
Build Number 6139
Build Date Tue Sep 03 00:00:00 EST 2013
Build Revision 55675310699987538e94bba02907336bb66489a8

you can install jira 6.1-rc1 version from here

https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/download-archives

I installed RC1, and now the error is "This data appears to be from an older version of JIRA. Please upgrade the data and try again. The current version of JIRA is at build number '6142', but the supplied backup file was for build number '6139'."

Is it safe to assume that RC2 is a later build than RC1?

Has OnDemand upgraded its version in the past day to match either RC1 or RC2?

To compound the problem, I'm being restricted by the 48-hour backup lockout, and the 24-hour comment lockout. This is getting ridiculous.

After waiting some time for OnDemand to increment its production build version, I'm trying again.

I backed up the OnDemand instance:

Version 6.1-OD-09-WN
Build Number 6144
Build Date Sun Sep 15 00:00:00 EST 2013
Build Revision 62dfc48b48ace9520c38e8a9da28a9bf6fe10e82

When I tried to restore it to my interim hosted instance which is still

I received the error message

"""The xml data you are trying to import is from JIRA 6.1-OD-09-WN, which is newer than your current version of JIRA and will not work. This data can be successfully imported into JIRA 6.0.8 or later.

If JIRA 6.0.8 is not yet available for download, please contact support."""

I would have thought that 6.1 is newer than 6.0.8.

Am I mistaken?

Should I install the RC2 that you referred to above?

Should I install the 6.1 version at https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/download (which doesn't specify its build version or release date)?
