Is there a way to query in JQL to see the issues that were changed from issuetype to another?

Adding on to Tyler's answer, you can do this with the help of plugins like JQL Tricks. You might want to take a look if it is a critical requirement.

Hey Vladimir,

The issuetype field does not support history searches, so unfortunately you can not.

IF your workflows are different enough you may be able to search based on a status change though

Has Jira added a functionality to query the history of the field issueType so that I can find the issues which transitioned from one issuetype to another?

Not yet,

You still need to use a third-party app like the one suggested here or JQL Booster Pack for example.

Just a note: JQL Booster Pack is not available for Cloud instances - just Server and Data Center.
