Hello DJM,

Generally, using a Jira JQL query within a Jira issue macro on Confluence does not have an issue. There are times where the JQL query may take longer than 10 seconds to load and thus causes a timeout which results in a server 504 error message. There is however a KB which covers such an event which you may find at Timeouts in the JIRA Issues Macro or Highlighting Plugin. There are multiple workarounds within this KB that cover different aspects of the product (too many to list due to the type of error you’re actually receiving in the logs.) Please have a read through the above KB and let us know if this helped to narrow down the issue with your JQL query.

We look forward to your response to help find you a solution.
