JQL documentation error?

In Advanced search reference - JQL fields  Sprint is described as having the Field Type of Number.

Since Sprint can have a name how can this be correct?

Internally the sprint is stored as a number, you can see that number if you go to your backlog and hover the three dot menu to the right of the sprint, you will then see the sprintID number for that sprint.

I see, I thought the Sprint field was more complex than that. My instance shows it as 'Jira Sprint Field' and it is locked.  The other number fields I have observed like Votes, Watchers and Work ratio appear to be the same type that I can use when creating a custom field which there is defined as 'A custom field that stores and validates numeric input'.
