JIRA user management and access control

Jirong Hu March 27, 2015

I am a bit confused by access control in JIRA now. We have integrated JIRA with AD and have these standard AD groups, jira-users, jira-developers, jira-administrators, jira-power-users. I see either these groups and individual users has been added to roles in projects. Here are my questions:

  1. To enable an AD user to access JIRA, what shall we do? Shall we add this user to AD groups, jira-users and jira-developers.
  2. To enable an AD user to access a JIRA project, we need to add this user to the roles?

Thanks

Jirong

Hi Jirong,

You need to give the users and/or groups Global permissions so they can log in to JIRA and perform tasks appropriately.

Best,
Thiago

In Global Permissions, we have jira-developers assigned to JIRA Users, Browse Users, Create Shared Objects. So my question was: 1. To allow a user access to a project, what shall we do? 2. If a user says he can't access a certain project, what's the possible issue?
