JIRA tried to login but they do not have USE permission or weren't found

Michael McCann March 10, 2015

I am trying to implement service desk and am unable to login to the service desk portal as a user.

In desperation I have created a user as a crowd member of the JIRA users group and I still cannot login.

the error  returned is

/login.jsp login : 'XXXX' tried to login but they do not have USE permission or weren't found. Deleting remember me cookie.

./atlassian-jira-security.log:2015-02-19 18:43:46,697 http-bio-8080-exec-23 anonymous 1123x204133x1 tk7ygn 93.152.33.73 /login.jsp The user 'XXXX' is NOT AUTHORIZED to perform this request

I can see the user in crowd (even though I don't want them to be a JIRA user if I had the choice)

however when I check the users role in JIRA I see the user under the "Any" categorisation but not under jira-users as per the crowd config. Looks to me that the user has synced but not their groups

Try to reconfigure the AD connectors and use only One domain controller for sync accounts
