JIRA project: best practise or straight forward method to disable a standard JIRA field ?

AM December 8, 2012

We need to disable the standard JIRA field *Label* for specific projects.

Is there a straight forward method / best practice how to do it?

In case of a custom field is could be disable on a per project label - but this option is not available for the standard JIRA fields.

... just want to avoid using Screen, Screen Schemes etc. ....

Sorry, did not mentioned the JIRA version - it's 5.2

And Labels is a default field since JIRA 4.2

Globally, remove the field, or disable the module that provides it.

For a project by project basis, I'm not sure where your problem lies - labels ARE a custom field.

For the actual system fields, you will have to use schemes (Field configuration, or screens) - that's the whole reason these schemes are there!

ACtually, labels are not a custom field anymore, although there is a label custom field as well. But I agree with the rest. Use field configuration to hide them and remove them from screens.
