We got a lot of "wrong resolution" becuase JIRA presents a default Resolution value to users, so users can just click through the resolution screen.

Is it possible to modify the Resolution field so that when it is presnted to the users, default to blank/nothing, but required upon form submission? In turns forcing the user to update the Resolution field.

Thanks.

There is no way to default to blank/nothing.

But maybe you can apply a hack. Create a new resolution named "None" and make that default. You can then add a workflow validator that says resolution cannot be "None". That will force the users to select a valid resolution.

A big thanks Jobin.

I love the solution but hate to edit all our workflows/transitions. :) It will require JIRA admins. to remember to implement that rule in the future as well.
