JIRA: keeping custom field columns in a filter

austen joe July 10, 2012

I have a filter set up to show issues for a project, I have a few custom files added to the column, however about every week or so the columns get removed from the filter. Does anyone know how to make the columns permanent?

Hi Austen,

Few queries before guessing a solution to your problem:

1. Do you have custom fields that are restricted to a particular issue type?

2. Do you have custom fields that are restricted to a particular project?

3. Are you adding these custom fields columns by customising your Issue Navigator Columns ?

4. Are you adding these custom fields columns as Default Issue Navigator Columns (Administration > System > User Interface > 'Navigator Columns) ?

If the answer to the above question 1 & 2 is YES, then this is what is happening -> https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRAKB/Custom+Field+Column+not+Visible+in+Issue+Navigator

It is possible that your filter search result, show multiple issue types and in such a case if you custom field is not configured for a particular issue type which appears on the result, then the custom field column would not be displayed on the Issue Navigator.

It would be helpful if you could attach the snapshot of your custom field page (found at <jira-instance>/secure/admin/ViewCustomFields.jspa)
