JIRA email delays

Hi, we continually have 500 or 1000 emails in our JIRA mail queue on busy days. It takes 30 or 60 minutes for some users to receive emails. JIRA seems to process emails very slowly and serially. Is there anything that can be done to speed up the queue? Thanks.

Refer this KB for troubleshooting.
