JIRA as public bug tracker

Ole Bittner September 13, 2015

Hey there,

We would like to use JIRA as public bug tracker, where everybody can register, submit bugs, get email alerts, comment and vote, not more and not less.

We are currently a team of 3 people, so we would like to use the 10-user-license.

So the question is does every user, registerd through the public login dialog, count as "licensed-user" or does just the team-members count?

Everyone who can log in counts towards your licence - they're all "users".

If you have JIRA Service Desk though, you can have "customers" - they get a simplified interface, but you don't need to licence them.

The middle road would be to allow anonymous access to your system, but that is risky (you will be spammed), and means you can't really, well, track issues.
