JIRA and Confluence - use the same users

Moshe Recanati May 11, 2014

We purchased two products:

JIRA for 25 users (developers, product and QA)

Confluence 10 users for product members only

Since this 10 Confluence users are part of the 25 JIRA users, we would like to link between them and to use same DB.

The issue is that once we're doing it, we've a problem:

If we sharing the same DB, Confluence is not working since we've license for 10 only. From the other hand we can't disable the other JIRA users or create separate DB since it'll cause us overhead.

Please assist.

With mismatched licences, you can't keep it as simple as you'd want to.

You will need to maintain two groups - one for "jira users" and one for "confluence users". You can reuse those groups in the other applications in permissions and so-on, but the important thing is the logins - in both applications, go to Admin -> Global permissions and make sure those two groups are correctly named in "Jira users" and "Can use confluence"
