JIRA access on port 80

i want to access my JIRA installation on Port 80. System: CentOS7 Jira-Version: 7.0.0

I edited the server.xml from

Connector port="8080"
to

Connector port="80"
and set the jira-user into the root-group with

usermod -a -G root jira
But if i want to open the server-url, there is no connection

ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED
After restarting the service JIRA

There is a logfile-view

Port 80 is within the "reserved" port range (up to 1024), and so requires root to bind to.  I have to guess you aren't starting JIRA as the root user.

Stefan,

You can also integrate JIRA with Apache. That way you don't need to start JIRA as a root user and the Apache would act as a reverse proxy responding on port 80 and redirecting the connections to JIRA on port 8080. For more information on this matter please refer our documentation below. Hope it helps! smile
