JIRA Upgrade path v5.0 to v6.0

Veracode October 10, 2013

Hi Folks. To upgrade from JIRA 5.0.7 to 6.0 (?.8), do I need to stop at 5.1 and 5.2 along the way, or can I just upgrade directly from 5.0 to 6.0?

More info:

  • We have some plugins
    • Customware: core-connector, jira-connector, salesforce-connector
    • Bamboo
    • ical-feed
    • importers
    • quick subtasks
    • simple calendar
  • We've just upgraded MySQL from 5.1 to 5.5 - appears to he working fine.
  • We will be upgrading Confluence to 5.3 as part of this overall project (probably before/concurrent with JIRA upgrade)
  • We have a completely separate DEV environment where we are testing the upgrade procedures.

Skipping JIRA 5.1 and 5.2 would be handy.

Actually, you can skip 5.1 and 5.2 and go directly to 6.x. But make sure you understand the changes in the versions you are skipping as well. Also make sure all the plugins are compatible.

My recommendation would be to test in Test environment and then proceed to Prod if everything works fine.
