JIRA Service Desk permission override


JIRA Service Desk seems to be overriding permissions of Reporters to edit their own issues. However, when I switch the add-on off, they are back to being able to edit. Please see Permission Helper screenshot attached.

Is there a way to configure this so that it does not override any permissions?

Nope! If you're on the price scheme with agents, only agents can edit issues. There's no easy way to work around this. There might not even be a hard way.

All updates to the issues have to be done in comments. That's how Atlassian Support works as well.
