JIRA - Migration Server > Cloud

Smita Kelkar July 24, 2018

We are migrating from Server to Cloud soon for one of our business unit and I have tried to study aspects for migration. I am creating this discussion to have your experiences on few of the concerns I realized.

To get better me can you help me on below topics

1. I am on version 7.4.3 and Atlassian recommends to upgrade to latest version before migrating . What are your experiences here?

  • Do you think I need to go compulsorily to 7.11.0 ?
  • Atlassian -> What is your recommendation?
  • Do we have to change JVM time to UTC? What if we dont change?

I will update this discussion with more , hoping to come up with some knowledge that can help me as well as community

Atlassian's recommendation is to go to the latest version of Jira before upgrade.

Sometimes, you can get away with a little bit lower.  For example, at the time of writing where 7.11 is new and on a 0 point release, you could probably get away with 7.10.  But I wouldn't recommend risking going lower.
