JIRA - Microsoft Azure Active Directory single sign-on for JIRA?

Thomas Imensek November 27, 2018

Hi,

i am trying to configure Jira to user the Microsoft Azure SSO.

I followed the tutorial (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/saas-apps/jiramicrosoft-tutorial) and it worked like a charm.

Now i have an additional Button at the Login Page. login.png

I would like to disable the "standard" login and only allow the login through the SSO (but only for Jira not the Servicedesk Customer Portal)

Is there a possibility to configure this by i.e. disable the "standard" login form?

Hey Thomas,

I've looked through the Microsoft documentation you linked and it has you install the Microsoft-provided SAML connector for Jira. We only bundle a SAML connector with Jira Data Center, so on Jira Server you do have to use a third-party plugin like the one Microsoft provides to get SAML support.

However, since it's a plugin, you are at the whim of the plugin provider (Microsoft in this case) about how they decide to modify the login page to present the SSO options. It doesn't look like Microsoft has provided any configuration options for what you're looking to do with their plugin.

From personal experience, I know that the SAML Single Sign On plugin provided by resolution does allow you to configure the login page options (and you can just have it autologin with SSO and skip the login page entirely). Even though you're following the Microsoft guide, since it's ADFS on the backend, you should be able to use any SAML-compliant plugin to get the SSO working with your Azure AD.

Hope that helps!

Cheers,
Daniel
