We are trying to increase the memory that is allocated for JIRA, but failed when we follow Windows (starting from .bat file) from https://confluence.atlassian.com/jira/increasing-jira-memory-5896.html:
1. In your <JIRA Installation Directory>/bin (or <Tomcat Installation Directory>/bin for JIRA WAR installations), open the setenv.bat file.
2. Find the section set JVM_MINIMUM_MEMORY= and set JVM_MAXIMUM_MEMORY=
3. See Diagnosis above and enter the appropriate values.
4. Restart JIRA for changes to be picked up.
My questions are:
On the given link: What is the difference between Windows (starting from .bat file) and Windows Service? Do I need to do both of them for an increase?
It depends on how you install your JIRA instance. If it's just extracting it the JIRA package to a directory (.bat file) or if you actually use the JIRA Installer (service).
