JIRA, JIRA Agile and Confluence Licenses

Idris Gagan November 25, 2014

This may be a sales question but I thought I will put it out here just in case anybody has been through a similar situation.

We have 10 JIRA User licenses and 10 JIRA Agile User licenses. We need to increase the number of user licenses for JIRA and also subscribe to Confluence. Can we create a user and give them access to JIRA and Confluence and not to JIRA Agile?

In other words we do not need everyone in our company to have JIRA Agile license and we want to keep the number of licenses for JIRA Agile at 10 while increasing the number of licenses for JIRA  and Confluence (new subscription) to 25 users each.

Hi Idris.

At this moment this is not possible. From the JIRA Agile FAQ

Yes, JIRA Agile is a plugin for JIRA. The JIRA Agile license type and user count must match that of the JIRA Server license it is being used with. For instance, a 25 User Commercial JIRA Server license will require a 25 User Commercial JIRA Agile license.

A possible workaround to you situation is work with two JIRA instances and using Issue links.
