JIRA / JIRA Agile - Client side Java

fazal.mahate March 19, 2015

Does JIRA / JIRA Agile (latest version: 6.4) require Java on client side for any functionality? (This includes a Java plugin for the Web Browser.)

I do not see a requirement in Supported Platform sections of Installing JIRA 6.4 documentation. But performing a Google search, I found issues where customers had problem with JIRA and Java on web browsers.

No, JIRA does not require Java to be installed in the client side, just on the server, as you can see from our document about JIRA Client/Server Software Requirements; but you may find some plugins and browsers add-ons which rely on Java Applets.
