JIRA Cloud future visions

NC Atlassian May 8, 2017

Hi,

I would like to ask on behalf of our customer, what is future vision of the Cloud solution (he decides whether to take a cloud or server solution).

Here the questions:

  • what are the planned fetaures in the Cloud?
  • is it planned to have server centers in the European Union too?
  • what is the plugin model?
  • is the limitation of 2.000 only a current showstopper or is it planned to exceed the user number?

Will it be possbile to have a JIRA Cloud instance with following measurements:

Active (concurrent) users - 250 (ca. 50 Sesssions / Server)
Issues - 300.000 >
Issues/month (growth) - 6.000
Custom fields - 150 >
Permission schemes - 25
Projects - 300 >
Issue types - 20
Resolutions - 30
Workflows - 35

Thank you in dvance for your feedback!

Kind Regards

Radim Drinka

Hi Radim - You should probably do your own research on this mattter, but I'll give you some pointers.

What are the planned features in the Cloud?

This is a community forum used mostly by users just like you and me, so this is a difficult question for anyone on here to answer as we don't know Atlassian's detailed plans.

The best thing you can do is research recent news and Atlassian-related events. For example, the recent Atlassian Summit Europe 2017 keynote featured news about upcoming redesign of Cloud products.

There is good info in this blog post:

Keep up to date with such announcements to know about new features and plans.

is it planned to have server centers in the European Union too?

Yes. It's not hard to find out with a quick search:

"Atlassian cloud infrastructure expands to Europe
Today, more than 75% of new Atlassian customers start with one of our cloud products, which means our cloud infrastructure must be up to the task. We are happy to announce that our cloud hosting infrastructure is going global, starting with the launch of a new European region in Ireland. After migration to this new infrastructure, our European cloud customers will experience improved performance and reduced latency."

What is the plugin model?

Free and paid add-ons are available for JIRA Cloud via Atlassian maketplace.

See the FAQs here: https://www.atlassian.com/licensing/marketplace

Or you can build your own.

Is the limitation of 2.000 only a current showstopper or is it planned to exceed the user number?

All docs say max is 2,000, I don't think you'll find anything which says otherwise or indicates any plans to increase. I could be wrong though.

300K issues feels pretty large for a JIRA Cloud instance to me
