This was handled through support, https://thepluginpeople.atlassian.net/browse/JEMH-2542apparently there were more than one JIRA instances pulling from a common mailbox, so issues were being created elsewhere and yes, all the auth things were mentioned too..

what was the reason the authentication was failing

Its your system, you tell me :D Probably someone though that an account with an expiring password was a good idea for a system mailbox, happens a lot!

Hello,

By the attached log, it seems that there is some authentication problem with your mailbox:

2014-06-17 13:57:47,659 ERROR [EONSUP_MailServerBox] QuartzScheduler_Worker-2 ServiceRunner EONSUP Project | Creating issues/comments from email EONSUP Project | Creating issues/comments from email[10200]: Error connecting to host 'webmail.sapient.co.in' as user 'sapient\dummyNTID_2' via protocol 'imaps': javax.mail.AuthenticationFailedException: AUTHENTICATE failed.
javax.mail.AuthenticationFailedException: AUTHENTICATE failed.
at com.sun.mail.imap.IMAPStore.protocolConnect(IMAPStore.java:665)

First we need to eliminate these exceptions, try to review your incoming mail settings and see if you can authenticate.

Cheers.
