Issues with Inactive Reporter/Assignee cannot be moved

Eldon Wong January 8, 2014

I have a list of approximately 1300 issues that I need to move from one issue type to another. The problem I have is that some issues have Reporters and Assignees that are Inactive. How do I move these issues and preserve at least the Reporter? (I can find a new assignee, but I'd like to preserve the history of who created the issue.)

We are using Crowd with our JIRA and Crowd is hooked up to our corporate Active Directory. The users are set to not active from Active Directory. I cannot select the checkbox to re-activate the user in Crowd because it's controlled in AD.

Thanks to David from Atlassian Support, we got this figured out.

  1. Add a new directory in Crowd and make it Active
  2. Add it to our jira connector in Crowd.
  3. Make sure the new directory is above the Active Directory directory.
  4. Added the deactivated users in the new Directory
  5. Created the jirausers and jiradevelopers groups in the new Directory
  6. Added the users to the two groups
  7. Synched the user directory in JIRA

After moving the issue, need to deactive the directory. I chose to deactivate and remove it from the JIRA connector. This worked beautifully.
