Issue Navigator - can we change the default View Type to "List View"

When we have new users accessing the Issue Navigator for the first time, the default View Type is "Detail View" rather than "List View".

We would like to change the default to "List View" which our new users find less confronting and it is then their choice to switch to the "Detail View" if they like.

I did have a look at that thread but didn't see an answer, people seemed to be confused on what the question was.
