We have a number of disparate software development scrum projects with their own boards and backlogs and sprint schedules. None of them are associated with each other in any kind of hierarchical manner.
Business Problem:
Getting a holistic view (reporting) across all projects requires a lot of manual effort.
Question:
Is there native Jira capability to link the disparate projects together into a hierarchy or some kind?
Additional Context:
Any reporting I do at the moment is at the individual project level, I would like to see things like DORA, Burn Up, Burn Down, etc. across all the projects, i.e. a portfolio view. None of my projects are hierarchical. Is there any native Jira capability or is a 3rd party app in the Atlassian marketplace that could help me?
//Kind Regards,
Welcome to the community.
Jira has no project hierarchy, but issue hierarchy
You can get Roadmap (Plan) options in Jira on a Premium subscription.
In Plans you can create an issue hierarchy, so as a solution you could have a project only having your high level issues and set them as parent to Epic(s)
Base you plan on a filter or multiple projects or boards.
Otherwise you are reliant on 3rd party marketplace apps, these do rely on issue hierarchy as well.
Apps:
Also Jira is not a BI reporting tool.
Jira has simple reporting based on projects, there are 3rd party apps to enhance dashboard capabilities.
And apps that can export data to BI tools like PowerBI or Tableau
You could even use the API to extract data and use the data in a BI tool.
Most helpful.
Thank you Marc.
