Is there anyway to remove the "Standard" "Description" field on a ticket?

I have removed the "Description" field from all of our field configurations that are attached to our Kanban board, but it continues to show up in our detail view when on the kanban board itself.

I had created a new one because we wanted to re-name the field but could find no way to do so. Now I have two description fields and have completely migrated all of our stories over to JIRA in the other field.

Does anyone know of anyway to get rid of it for good, or have an easy way to migrate fields from one to the other so I can utilize the "Description" field instead?

agile board will  have separate issue detail view . go to the board -->configure–>issue detail view. remove from there.

Thank you so much for your responses – I went ahead and did that, but it still shows up here: http://screencast.com/t/VvDwPi4h . 

I have a new "description/ replicated information" field in the issue detail: http://screencast.com/t/dBBd3wcRRF but I'm not seeing the "Standard" Description there, yet it still appears in the card itself. 

I also checked my settings here: http://screencast.com/t/nQLbs8KHpZB and I dont see it there either.

Is it possible this is a field that cannot be removed completely?

Sorry. Please browse to your project administration of the project whose issues are there in the board, fields, then find for description field, then click on hide on right side. it should take care of kanban board as well.

Hi Shamith, I did try this, unfortunately while it looks like Description is no longer in the overall detail view, it is still showing up here when looking at the details on the Kanban board: http://screencast.com/t/8Co4mUrlSf

Its so very strange because when you open the ticket up completely, it is gone: http://screencast.com/t/4fldbhGbSY (The "Description/ Replicated Information: " is my custom field).

It's very strange, I appreciate you trying to help! Im not sure why it's being so finicky!

Only reason i see, is there are issues from other projects, where description is not hidden. 
i am in 6.3.10 JIRA version , and i was able to hide using Field configurations.
