Is there a way to "mention" a user by first name only?

Marni Nispel January 16, 2015

We frequently do Comments but the first and last name format seems too formal.  Right now, when we mention someone we get

[~jsmith]

and when we Add the comment, it changes to John Smith.  There is no way to backspace over the last name as you can in Confluence.

This would be very useful, please implement referencing with the first name.

Whats possible is to just make a normal link and link this to a user.

Then you can change the links display value to just the firstname.

Hope that helps

I'm interested in how you get the John Smith, ours converts to Smith, John. So if you're mentioning someone in the contents of a sentence, it looks goofy. "I spoke with Smith, John after the meeting." Is there an admin option somewhere?

Hello Marni, how are you?

Thanks for your question.

Unfortunately, this feature isn't available on JIRA as it is on Confluence.

You can find more information about it here:

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-28730

Kind regards,

Paulo.
