Is there a way to import history into Jira OnDemand?

Deleted user April 4, 2013

I'm migrating from DevTrack to Jira OnDemand and I'm looking for a way to import the history associated with each issue. I've reviewed https://developer.atlassian.com/display/JIRADEV/Change+History and would like to somehow import data into these tables (or whatever else might be needed to get history imported) via the REST api or any other mechanism that's available. I haven't seen anything relating to history in the REST documentation, but I may have missed it. Is there a REST api for history data? If not, is there any other way to import history data?

Greetings,

In general, the standard supported import process in JIRA OnDemand conveniently creates a new project along with the migrated issues contained within. It is important to point out that the imports pertain to issues, not necessarily history as you have indicated.

In terms of importing issues, although DevTrack is not listed as one the third party programs, we document the import process for CSV and third party programs. However, the latter of which are not trivial procedures and if opting for the third party path, existing data would not be preserved.

Please review the import info here:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AOD/Importing+Issues

As far as the REST api, I do not beleive migrating history is possible but hoping perhaps others here can chime in with various ideas or suggestions. The closest I found was as follows:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=253231624

https://developer.atlassian.com/display/JIRADEV/JIRA+REST+APIs

Finally, you may have explored this already but perhaps there is integration between DevTrack and one our supported third party programs (pivotal tracker, fugbuz, TRAC). Just a thought.

Sorry I could not be of more service. Hopefully this information will provide you with some options.

Cheers,

Thanks for the response. I'd like to leave this open until someone definatively answers yes/no regarding this matter.

The answer is no, as is. You should be able to rebuild this history in a local instance of JIRA, but that would require a bit of dev with the API and some DB updates; perhaps someone here would be able to direct you on more of the specifics. You would then have to import your OnDemand data into the local instance, do one master system export, and then import that into OnDemand, which would overwrite all existing data.
