Is there a way to import attachments into JIRA via the CSV importer when the attachment URL is behind a username and password?

We're migrating story cards from another system into JIRA. Some of our cards contain attachments, which are accessible at their stated URL path only after entering a valid username and password when prompted. Is there a way to pass the username and password when importing attachments so that they are accessible by JIRA?

Does your external system support Basic Authentication method? Then you could create links like:

http://user:secretpassword@www.example.com/path/to/my/attachment.jpg

Via OnDemand you won't get a lot of customizations at all so we can throw that option out. You stated that the attachments are available via at their path (you're being very vague), does that system allow you to pass a username and password in the URL? If not I can't see how this would be possible...
