I have had a number of users come to me and ask if there was a way to have more than project, issue security level, and sprint value be inherited from the parent task when createing a sub task. I have found nothing on the subject except this excerpt in the help documentation:
Note that when you create a sub-task, the following values are inherited from the parent task: · project · issue security level · sprint value, if any (only for JIRA Software issues)
If anyone has any ideas that would help with this, please let me know.
Hi Russel,
with plain Jira, you can't inherit more fields. There are plugins that give you workflow post functions to create a subtask, e.g. the "Jira Workflow Toolbox" (there may be others, but we use this one). Using this post function for creating subtasks, you can inherit every single field from the parent issue, if you want.
