Is there a way to email Jira directly and it trigger to open a Jira ticket?

Looking for a way to ease our change control process.  Currently we have staff emailing a change request to a distribution list, then a member of that list creates a JIRA issue.  Is there any way to email JIRA directly to prompt it to open a ticket?

If you don't have Service Desk, or want to do this with non-Service-Desk projects, start with the built-in email handlers - https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiracloud/creating-issues-and-comments-from-email-779288896.html

We are using the 'Service Desk' functionality which automatically opens a ticket in the SD. From there an admin (myself) can create a new linked ticket that can be posted into another Jira project.

This might be a cleaner way, but sounds similar in process to what you are doing now.
