Is there a way to configure JIRA such that an issue is not editable, but the label field is ?

As in summary. We want to avoid that users can modify the content of an issue, but still be able to modify its classification through the label field.

We found following solution

a) Using workflow properties, set the issue non editable

b) add a transition with a transition screen containing the label field. Ensure that the transition workflow property allows to edit the issue.

When a user wants to edit the label field s/he needs to use the transition itself.

Glad that you found the workaround Francis. And a good tip too for me :)

Hi Francis,

I believe it isn't possible to do that. In order to permit an user to change the label it must have the Edit Issues Permission, and that gaves the possibility to change any field in the issue.
