Is there a way to change the background color of a table cell in a jira description or comment?

I know this can be done in Confluence but what about a JIRA issue?

not that I know of. The wiki renderer in JIRA is much reduced to the most necessary features only:

I was able to utilize a panel element to achieve this by placing the panel element in the desired cell and adding background color to it.

The result is the following

Currently also implemented on cell level (dropdown). Or the last cell selected when selecting multiple :)

Thanks George.  I've scoured the wiki markup possibilities for JIRA and have noticed it is limited.  Was just wondering if there are other tricks of the trade.
