We have added a new custom field that is required. Our older issues do not need this field filled in but anything new it is required. I can not add this field to the View because it is also added to the edit field which is requiring users to fill the field in on older issues. Is there a way to, for the time being as we transition this new field into our process to only View the field but not have it on the edit screen?
To start with you can put that field only on the view screen and not on the edit screen. And you can set it initially to a blank value (""), so that it will not be seen in your older issues and even in the new issues UNTIL you alter its value programatically.
