Is it possible to update JIRA 5.2 with Greenhopper 6.1 to JIRA 6.4?

We have JIRA 5.2.8 with Greenhopper 6.1.4.2 running. What ist the best strategy to update to the current versions of JIRA and JIRA Agile?

Hi Matthias,

You should be able to upgrade right to the latest versions of JIRA and JIRA Agile without any issues. Here's some documentation on upgrading JIRA. This lists all the possible ways of upgrading JIRA Agile. One thing to note is that the way JIRA Agile handles data is differently. As of JIRA Agile 6.4 we introduce lexoranking. When upgrading the reindex process will take unusually longer as it needs to build the lexorank tables. It should only take longer the first time around.

  1. Decide which version of JIRA you want to upgrade to. Latest is 6.4.5
  2. Check the highest compatible version of jira-agile that works with your JIRA version.
  3. Upgrade JIRA using this link
