Is it possible to log work by setting status?

Is it possible to log works by setting status of a project? for example the hours which have been worked on a project is calculated by the time difference of setting status as "In Progress" and "Stop"?

You might be able to archieve this by using a postfunction in the "stop" transition, which will calculate the time difference and log the work. I'm not sure, if there is a plugin which already provides such functions, but it should not be to hard to write this on your own as well.
