Is it possible to have users log in with their full email address as their user name when using Active Directory?

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Connecting to an internal directory with LDAP authentication

Is it possible to have users log in with their full email address as their user name when using Active Directory?  Right now it uses their "sAMAccountName" attribute as their username, but all of our other services, including Office365, require the full email.  To make this a more consistent experience we would like to use the full email address for logging into JIRA, Confluence, and BitBucket.

In the LDAP setup there is a field to specify the user name. Have you tried changing that? Try it on a test system first. Maybe change it to the "mail" attribute.

Thanks.  That seems to have done the trick in a test environment.  I updated an existing User Directory and it simply updated existing users instead of creating additional, or duplicate, users.

Cool. Remember to take a backup of your prod system first before making the change.
