Is it possible to enable Time Tracking for a single (or selected) project?

William Wallace October 9, 2014

My organisation uses JIRA primarily as an issue/support tracking system.

My question is, is it possible to enable Time Tracking for a single project?

E.G. we have a Work Request project and a New product project.

I would like to enable tracking of estimates and time for the New Product project without enforcing capture of estimates for the Work Request one.

Is this possible?

If so any guidance as to how to configure the setting would be appreciated.

kind regards

Will

No.  Time tracking is a global flag.

But...  Set up two permission schemes and two sets of screens for the projects.

One pair of schemes should be for New products projects:

  • screens should not include any fields with time tracking or estimates
  • permissions should not allow "log work" to anyone

The other pair should be for work request projects:

  • screens should include the time tracking fields
  • permissions should allow "log work" to people who can log work

(You could also do the "screen" thing with "field configurations", but I find screens easier to understand)
