Is it possible to add multilingual issues in Jira?

dstuecken September 4, 2015

We are using the atlassian-hosted version of JIRA and Confluence and coming across a special demand: having our german issues reported in other languages as well (basically summary and description) .

Is there any plugin or workaround for that? Our first idea is to add a custom field summary_en but we find it's not the most elegant way even though one second language would be sufficient.. Any other suggestions?

You can add your own language  and plus the default language in the translation by https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.atlassian.translations.jira.inproduct

Also, this only seems to support translation of the JIRA UI.  What the original poster is asking for (and what I also wish existed) is some way of translating the JIRA issue content, much like the K15t Scroll Translations plug-in makes it possible to translate the content of Confluence pages.

Hi @dstuecken,

Are you using Jira Service Management or Jira Software?

It's been a long time since you asked this question, but you should know that summary and description can be bilingual if you install the resolution app Ticket translations for Jira Service Management.

Please note I work for resolution, the app developer - but this app is as far as we know the only one that translates the content of Jira tickets automatically. There are other options for the field names and UI in general.
