Is it possible that required field must be filled first before clicking update button?

This will be implemented in editing an issue, is it possible that the required field must have an input before updating an issue? and also not using a validator?

I have tried using lfDialogMessage but I want it to be showed upon clicking the update button in editing an issue ticket.

If your Jira version is not Cloud, then you could use Adaptivist Scriptrunner behaviours.
