Is it possible for sub-tasks to be created as a post fuction of a transition? I don't see it as an option

Davina Tsosie November 30, 2016

I would like to have sub-tasks automatically created when an issue transitions into the next step. Is this possible in JIRA Cloud? I did see Create in Transition but cannot find the plug-in in Cloud.

Thanks, Davina

Hi Davina,

It's not currently possible in Cloud without an add on, as far as I know.

Something like Automation for JIRA would do it.

The demo video here shows something similar being done at about 1m31s:

This example is tied to issue creation, but I think it can be done when issues transition. I've asked the question here: https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/44614447

I think this is also possible with a scripting add-on, like ScriptRunner for JIRA.

Additionally, it sounds like a Cloud version of Create on Transition for JIRA is in progress, there is a ticket raised to track progress here: https://bobswift.atlassian.net/browse/CSOT-136

There might be other add-ons available too, maybe others will comment if they know.

Hope this helps a bit.

Sam

Hi @Davina Tsosie,

As @Sam Hall said, you can use ScriptRunner for JIRA - the relevant documentation can be found here: Create Subtask on Post Function

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks, Jon
