We are going to be upgrading from Jira 4.2 to the current version. My question is - is it easier to go through all of the upgrades to get to the current version, or is it easier to simply export my existing database (Oracle 10gXE), remove the old Jira version, install the new Jira version, then import the old database into my new database (Oracle 11gXE)? Any recommendations? Thanks for your respons.
You can directly upgrade to the current version but make sure you read and understand the releases in between. For example, JIRA 4.3 has major changes in user management.
The upgrade notes suggests the best approach based on your current version.
