I've recently been doing some research into using NUMA to see what sort of performance gains we can get from running it, but now I'd like to reach out to the community and ask what your experiences of using NUMA have been. So, what I'd like to know is:

  • What are the benefits and are they as stark as Oracle is suggesting?
  • Have you come across any pitfalls whilst using NUMA?
  • What should you know before implementing it in production systems?
  • Are there certain circumstances where you would or wouldn't use it?

From what I can tell we should be using it more, but before I go too far out on a limb I want to get feedback from the performance experts and Java gurus out there.

Thanks in advance for all your feedback,
John

Did you ever have any luck with getting an answer to this from other sources?
